Meet the Gallery Director

With close to three decades in the visual arts industry, Director Catherine Rhodes has been a gallery owner, gallery manager, collection manager, registrar, writer and curator, researcher and archivist. Alongside these have sat governance roles in arts-enabling organisations, and a degree in history and art history.

A common thread across these experiences is a passion for supporting artists to professionally exhibit and build their arts stories. Second to that is connecting art with audiences, whether that’s gallery visitors, education and school groups, or art events.

 

Catherine is committed to working with the Percy Thomson Trust and the wider creative sector to reflect and strengthen the community, help ensure Whakaahurangi Stratford is on the map for cultural tourism, and give artists a place to share their work and engage with art from beyond the district.
