About - Percy Thomson Trust
The late Percy Thomson, through his will, left a significant bequest to establish and maintain an art gallery, as well as an arboretum and herbarium dedicated to New Zealand's native flora.
In response, the Stratford District Council established the Percy Thomson Trust to manage these facilities and to create, acquire, promote, exhibit, and care for art collections for the benefit of Stratford district's residents and the wider public.
The Trust is governed by a dedicated group of volunteer trustees who generously contribute their time and expertise to uphold Mr Thomson's vision and ensure his legacy continues to enrich the community.
Mr Thomson would be well pleased with the strong and lasting connections that continue to grow between his hometown and its thriving art, culture and heritage. The people of Stratford have benefitted immensely from his generosity and proudly embrace the gallery and arboretum as treasured parts of their community.
