Percy Thomson Gallery
"A hidden gem showcasing diverse local talent, this gallery offers an inspiring and intimate art experience."
About - Gallery
Stratford’s Percy Thomson Gallery opened in June 2002 following a bequest to the District by former mayor and businessman Percy Thomson. The Gallery is managed by a volunteer trust board, and a gallery director that oversees the daily operations and curates the exhibition schedule.
With the community at its heart, the Gallery provides an extensive programme of exhibitions and events; those curated in-house as well as touring shows from national institutions and private collections.
Highlights of the calendar are twice-yearly shows by Stratford Art Society, and the biennial Emergence exhibition for Taranaki youth aged 13 – 26, supported by the Taranaki Foundation through the Taranaki Hauora Fund.
Beloved in Stratford with a nationally recognised profile, Percy Thomson Gallery is a gem in the region’s cultural landscape and a year-round tourist attraction for visitors from near and far.
Sitting alongside the town’s information centre, public library, a café, and Percy’s Place, which sells unique handmade artworks by local creatives, it’s not to be missed!
