TRUSTTUM & TATATM Pieces and parts |
Opening 21 May - 20 June 2010
|
This selection of Philip Trusttum’s paintings are ‘bits and pieces’ gathered from the large volume of work he has made over the past 25 years. The Percy Thomson Gallery, Stratford is showing a selection of intriguing objects from the Taranaki Transport Aviation and Technology Museum’s collection and Trusttum’s work that will occupy the walls of the exhibiting space. Works that reflect in a loose way practical themes of transport, wheels and boys things have been gathered for this unusual partnering within the Gallery. This small selection from Trusttum’s prodigious achievement to date provides some small insight into his great creative compositional genius and his ability to work directly with the everyday tasks and pleasures of life.
It is this same focus on the day to day and the material evidence that is generated by humanity that has driven the many dedicated volunteers that have gathered and cared for this important Taranaki museum’s collection.
